Next day when Rahul wakes up, Govinda offers him mangoes, and he
tells him a story. The story was similar to the story of Rahul’s dreams,
in which he imagines himself as Indiana Jones. In the story he is in a
mission to free many souls who are in chains, and to get the keys of
those locks, he needs to find a key of a box, in which all the keys are
there. Rahul imagines himself to be Indiana Jones, and Parthasarathy,
Madhu etc. as the locked spirits, and Padma as a spirit who motivates
Rahul to find the key.
Later, he realizes that the key to open the box is his heart only,
and his love is the key to open all the other chainlocks. He then
arranges a beach program with Padma, in the program, he brings a band
troupe who sings a song about living in the present moment. Noted actor Shreyas Talpade

everybody to write down their one wish and put it in a pot. Then he and
Padma exchanges their wishes. They together fulfils everybody’s wishes,
and meanwhile Rahul and Padma were about to be in a physical
relationship, but Rahul regrets and rejects. Padma gets angry and throws
off her wig to Rahul, and then only we come to know that the teenage
girl is bald, due to her disease. Then Padma’s condition gets worse, and
Rahul looks for her wish pot. He finds that her last wish is to make
love with Rahul. Rahul agrees and kisses Padma, and she dies at the
moment.
Later, Rahul finds an Indiana Jones costume in his room, which he had
wished for, and had written and given to Padma. Later, Rahul’s
condition gets worse, and Nafisa re-enters the story at that moment. It
is revealed that Padma had called Nafisa before her death and asked her
to look after Rahul.
Meanwhile, Rahul is in desperate search of some ‘Naksha’ (Treasure
Map) which Govinda had told him to find. He then realizes the Naksha is

Rahul Kapoor (Imran Khan) has always been on the road to perfection, as per the wishes of his domineering father (Boman Irani) and socialite mother (Ratna Pathak Shah). After suddenly losing his job as an architect in Vegas, he decides to hide the truth from his parents and find another job. Unable to cope with unemployment, he decides to go to a psychologist and runs into another patient, Riana Braganza (Kareena Kapoor). A series of events lead Riana to believe that he is sent by her ex-boyfriend to stalk her, and she ends up taking his file by mistake.
Riana, who later realizes her mistake, calls him and apologizes for her behavior. They meet up during Christmas Eve
and Riana invites Rahul to have a few drinks with her. A few drinks
turn into a night of intoxicated debauchery as they end up marrying each
other accidentally. Horrified, they both decide to get it annulled
as soon as possible. Meanwhile, Riana, who is also unemployed and has
not paid her rent, loses her house and an initially hesitant Rahul
finally lets her stay with him till her problem gets resolved. During
these few days, they get to know each other better. Rahul is revealed to
be interested in photography while Riana recounts her ambition to be a
ballet dancer, which was destroyed after she experienced an incident in
her childhood that broke her ankle. Their friendship develops as Riana
gives Rahul a long time break he always wanted. As they grow closer,
Rahul develops feelings for Riana, who fails to reciprocate them.
As New Year's Eve
approaches, Riana plans to visit her family in India, and asks Rahul to
accompany her. He disagrees initially, as his parents also live in Mumbai,
but later succumbs to her argument. Upon arrival, she introduces him to
her family, making his feelings towards her grow. The next day, Riana
takes him to visit her school, and amidst reflecting over her past
relationships, he unsuccessfully tries to kiss her. Realizing that she
does not feel the way he does, he angrily leaves the school, only to
almost run into a car revealed to be his mother's. He lies and tells his
mother that he is in India for a research trip, and that Riana is a
colleague. They proceed to have lunch with Rahul's parents, where he
webs a tale of intricate lies to avoid telling his father the truth. He
leaves Riana's house and moves in with his parents, trying to tell them
the truth, but once again is overpowered by his father.
Two days later, during a family dinner, Rahul angrily divulges the
complete truth to his in-denial parents and their business partners
(including Mr. Bulani), after realizing the meaninglessness of his
pretence he indulged in showing all these years. As he rushes back to
Riana to apologize for his behavior, Riana explains that she is sorry
too as she never intended to lead him on. After a night of reflection
and deep conversation, both decide to maintain their friendship. The
film ends with both returning back to Las Vegas and finalizing their
annulment with Rahul getting a new job, while keeping time out for
photography. He remains hopeful that one day he will convince Riana to
go back to that chapel with him. Both remain good friends, with an
ending note from Rahul claiming that he is finally happy with his life,
as the credits roll.

He is actually a very sad, lonely and tragic guy but he doesn't realize it."[6]

Production
Pre-production
work on the film began in the year 2010 when Karan Johar announced his
plans of making a new project with debutant Shakun Batra.[8] Following the success of their previous collaboration I Hate Luv Storys
(2010), Khan was contracted by Johar to play the film's male lead. In
an attempt to sign in an actress who had never worked with Khan before,
Kapoor was confirmed to play the female lead several days later.[9] She had to cut her hair short and sport red streaks for her role.[10]
On casting Khan and Kapoor for the film, Johar commented, "They could
get their real life personality onto the film. Imran is meant to be this
very perfectionist young man. So while he is a very stuffy kind of a
character, he is also very focused and doesn't let himself go. On the
other hand Kareena plays this woman who is like a modern version of Geet
from Jab We Met."[11]
Regarding the film, Batra mentioned, "It's a slice of life film,
driven by characters. The plot is not primary, emotions of the
characters are at the forefront. It is set on two weeks of the life of
two characters, played by Imran and Kareena."[12] On the other hand, Johar said that the film was inspired by the Woody Allen
style of film-making. He added that there would be "lot more
conversation happening here" and there would be "these walk-talk
sequences where it is just you and the camera in motion".[11]
Principal photography commenced in November 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada after Khan had completed working on Mere Brother Ki Dulhan[13] and later continued in Los Angeles.[14] After completing the film's first schedule, the crew shifted to shoot in Pataudi, in the Indian state of Haryana, followed by Mumbai.[15] As photography began in Vegas, media sources began to report that it could be an adaptation of the American romantic comedy, What Happens in Vegas
(2008). Johar, however, went on to deny these reports, claiming that if
he wanted to remake the film, he would have bought the rights to it.[16] Originally referred to as Short Term Shaadi, the film's title and first look was launched by Johar in August 2011 via the social networking site of Twitter. According to him, "Short Term Shaadi
was just a working title that attached itself to this film through the
making. Neither the director nor I were happy with it from the start."[3] The name Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu was derived from a song from the Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh starer Khel Khel Mein (1975).[17]
On deciding to set the film in Vegas, Batra said that, "the character
of the place is very well defined and we need to show it as Las Vegas.
It can't be shown as any other city. Since most films are not set there,
it gets difficult. In case of Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, our film is set in Las Vegas and Mumbai".[18]
As filming took place during the winter season in Vegas, the production
team shot for double shifts in order to be cost effective.[6]

Gautham Menon started working on Ekk Deewana Tha, the Hindi remake of his Tamil film Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, in 2011, and his Telugu simultaneous version Ye Maaya Chesave, with Prateik Babbar and Amy Jackson in the lead roles (for the Hindi version). Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (Tamil) and Ye Maaya Chesave (Telugu), considered by many as path-breaking, gave an all-new image for the lead pair of Silambarasan (Simbu) and Trisha Krishnan, & Naga Chaitanya and Samantha. Though, the Hindi remake initially had Trisha Krishnan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu reprising their role, the actress was unceremoniously dropped from the project after a photo shoot and replaced by Amy Jackson, who shot to fame with the Tamil film Madrasapattinam.
Gautham Menon was trying out a 'look shoot' at the same locations where he shot Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa and Ye Maaya Chesave,
including a popular seaside restaurant on ECR, Chennai. A source close
to the director said, "This shoot was just to get the 'feel' of the
film. The actual shoot will take place in Mumbai from next month."
According to the sources, A. R. Rahman's original tunes will be retained
for Ekk Deewana Tha as well, while the film also features Gautham Menon's regular technical team, consisting of art director Rajeevan and editor Anthony Gonsalves.
Noted poet, story and screenplay specialist, Javed Akhtar recently
was in Chennai, supervising the script and writing the lyrics for the
film. A source close to the development said, "Javed saab and Gautham
hit it off well. The lyricist's inputs will be taken into consideration
as Gautham is particular that his film should not come across as a
routine South Indian remake."[10]
Amy Jackson, playing a Syrian Malabar Nasrani Christian in the film, said that, "I'm very kicked about working with Gautham Menon. I've seen VTV [Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa] at least 15 times. Ekk Deewana Tha is a perfect launch pad for me in Bollywood.
He is a perfectionist and I know he will shape my character according
to the needs and tastes of the Bollywood audience. I've begun the first
schedule of the film and I'm planning to hire a Hindi tutor to help me
sail through it."[3]
Filming
The shooting of the film was to start in late-2010 but Prateik Babbar was busy with the promotions of Dhobi Ghat.[11] Finally, the shooting of the film commenced in April 2011, with the entire cast and crew of the film in Mumbai.[12] The shooting of the film progressed in various localities in Mumbai and the Ekk Deewana Tha team went down to Kerala and began the second schedule there in May 2011. The crew later went to Chennai in June 2011 to shoot few important scenes in Amethyst, Chennai, while, some of the songs were shot in AVM Studios, Chennai.[13][14] In July 2011, after the shooting of the film in Chennai was completed, the next schedule of the film was started at The Taj Mahal, Agra, while the shooting of the film was also held in Delhi.[15][16]

Duration : 2:32
In the Dasht-E-Margoh desert in remote Afghanistan, inside a Taliban camp, an ISI official, Col. Huzefa (Shahbaz Khan), is interrogating a captured man (Saif Ali Khan) suspected to be a Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), agent. The man offers up details about RAW's operations in Afghanistan in exchange for money and safe passage across the border. He betrays his colleague, Major Rajan (Ravi Kissen), who has also infiltrated the camp. This is only a ruse, as both overpower their captors and fight their way out of the camp. Along the way, they rescue a girl called Farah (Maryam Zakaria). The man is actually a RAW agent and his nom-de-guerre is Agent Vinod.
In New Delhi, Agent Vinod enters RAW headquarters to meet his boss Hassan Nawaz (B. P. Singh).
Nawaz shows him Major Rajan's final message from Russia. Just as he
completes his message, Rajan is killed by a man who has a scorpion tattoo on his forearm. Nawaz asks Vinod to find out what '242' actually is. Vinod travels to Moscow,
and enters a nightclub owned by Abu Nazer (Ram Kapoor). He manages to
capture and interrogate Nazer, who tells him a man called Freddie
Khambatta is to smuggle the million to Morocco. Vinod is almost captured by Nazer's men, but manages to escape, killing Nazer in the process.
Vinod boards a flight to Marakkesh, Morocco. Freddie Khambatta turns
out to be the flight steward. Vinod picks him up from the airport, only
to assume his place. As Freddie, Vinod meets local mafia boss David Kazan (Prem Chopra). Kazan is accompanied by his personal Pakistani doctor, Ruby Mendes (Kareena Kapoor). Kazan suspects Vinod, and gets Ruby to administer him a truth serum.
Vinod blurts out that he is a RAW agent and killed Abu Nazer. Kazan
confronts Vinod when he regains consciousness, but Vinod manages to
convince him he is Freddie Khambatta, and explains he had to kill Abu
Nazer to protect the mission. He manages to clone Kazan's phone and
finds out that a MI6 agent is reaching Morocco the next day.
In the meantime, Vinod gets closer to Ruby, and tries to find out
what '242' is. Ruby is actually Iram, a British-Pakistani who is working
undercover for the ISI. Vinod goes to meet the MI6 agent and finds him
murdered in his room with strong pointers that the murder was committed
by Ruby. He gets an invitation card from the murdered agent's room for a
private auction. He learns that many international terrorist groups are
converging on an antiques auction in Marakkesh to purchase '242'. Vinod
brings Ruby to the auction, where Kazan is also present along with
Jagadishwar Metla (Dhritiman Chatterji). Vinod spots an LTTE agent he
had encountered previously, and from him, learns that '242' is actually
the detonator for the nuclear device, disguised as an antique volume of Omar Khayyam's 'Rubaiyyat'. A bidding war ensues, and Kazan manages to secure the detonator.
In Chaman, Baluchistan, the head of the ISI is murdered by Col.
Huzefa, who is actually part of a group of rogue ISI colonels who are
planning an attack on India. In Morocco, Kazan locks the detonator with a
password, and hands it over to Colonel (Adil Hussain), who has arrived
in Morocco.
Ruby/Iram stumbles into the real Freddie Khambatta, and finds out Vinod
is a RAW agent. Managing to escape from men trying to kill them, both
agree to work together to prevent the nuclear device from falling into
the wrong hands. Ruby returns to Kazan's estate only to find out that
the estate has been ransacked and Kazan has been shot dead by 'Colonel'.
'Colonel' captures Ruby and asks her to reveal the whereabouts of Agent
Vinod. He plants a sniper next to the hotel where Agent Vinod is to
rendezvous with Ruby. The sniper takes a shot at him but Vinod manages
to escape and is admitted to a hospital. The assassin reaches the
hospital in the guise of a doctor and tries to administer a venom
injection to Vinod. Vinod spots the scorpion tattoo on the doctor's
forearm and overpowers him, killing him. He then clears his way out of
the hospital to find Iram.
'Colonel' who is now in possession of the detonator, has reached Latvia
to acquire the bomb. He enlists Iram to seduce an airport security
employee to get his ID card so that the nuclear bomb can be transported
out of Latvia. Iram succeeds in doing so, and 'Colonel' provides the ID
card to his man, who is to transport the bomb out of Latvia. Colonel
also sets up a rigged bomb so that both the airport employee and Iram
die in the blast. Vinod arrives and as he interrogates Iram, the blast
occurs, giving Iram the realization that she was being set up to be
killed by the Colonel.
Vinod and Iram join hands and try to capture the Colonel and the
bomb. Iram tells Vinod that the Colonel has called for a meeting at
Karachi with fugitive don Pasha who can also be in the plot. The Colonel
gets the Rubaiyat and tells his men to kill Vinod and Iram. However,
Vinod manages to kill them all. Iram and Vinod reach Karachi,
where they meet the rescued girl Farah, who is a dancer. With her help,
they enter the wedding attended by an Indian mafia don (Gulshan Grover).
There, they learn that Col. Huzefa and the don have agreed to smuggle
the nuclear device from Karachi into India via the sea route. However,
they are captured by Col. Huzefa, from whom they learn the target of the
bomb is New Delhi.
They manage to escape, and make it to New Delhi, where they try to find
the location of the bomb. They find that the Colonel is staying with an
ISI/Lashkar agent, who is an old professor. Iram finds the professor's
map, which is of the bus route that Jimmy is taking with the armed bomb.
Iram hurriess to the exhibition where Colonel is hiding as a pilot in
disguise. Iram runs into 'Colonel', and is shot, but points him out to
Indian security forces, who kill him. Eventually, Vinod tracks down the
bomb and takes the bomb up in a helicopter to detonate it as far away
from the city as possible. Iram realizes that David Kazan had set the
password to the detonator and asks Vinod to try the name of Kazan's
camel. The bomb is defused but Iram dies of gunshot wounds. Later Vinod
sees a recording, showing Metla planning the attack. Vinod accuses Metla
and the Zeus group for murdering millions for making money at the
global stock exchanges and starting a nuclear war in sub-continent for
geo-political reasons. Metla mocks Vinod, telling him world affairs are
too complex for 'lowly police officers' to understand. However, Vinod is
wearing a wire, and London cell of the Lashkar-e-Toiba are listening in. Realizing that they have been manipulated by Metla into almost starting a war with India,
and has been badly damaged in the process as the Pakistan government is
now violently cracking down on them, the Lashkar sends a suicide bomber
(Arif Zakaria) to assassinate Metla at a function in his honor. Metla is killed, but posthumously feted as a great philanthropist.
On a beach in Cape Town, the beautiful Russian girl who first
acquired the nuclear device, is seen sunbathing. She looks up to find
Agent Vinod smiling at her. It is apparent Vinod has moved on to his
next mission.

Production
According to Raghavan, Agent Vinod is not a remake of the 1977 action film of the same name.[5] In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, he described it as "a realistic film [...with] full of action pieces, thrills and characters."[5] On 30 May 2010, the director reported that the film's shoot had official begun in Mumbai. Filming later continued in Morocco[6] and Latvia.[7]
Soundtrack
The film's soundtrack has been composed by Pritam. The track "Steal the Night (I'll Do the Talking)" is a partial interpolation of the 1978 song "Rasputin", composed by German disco group Boney M.[8] According to IBN live, Raabta is the "most beautiful song" of the film.[9]
